how to make ice cubes-1

When I was a kid, I’d like to try to crunch ice cubes loudly from the ice bags bought for drink-cooling. It has no taste but leave my mouth into an icy and fresh space. It is a great attraction for me through my childhood and also my later life, not only from the cooling taste, but this small and exquisite cube shape. Today I am going to share ways to make ice cubes with you and I hope you can find pleasure in it.

It can be much easier and cheaper if you have a tray available for making ice cubes. Here are steps to experiment with your DIY iced cubes.

#1 Choose a right tray

There are basically three kinds of ice cube trays in different shapes sold in the supermarket, plastic, silicone, and stainless steel. Here shows the comparison among them.

Types

Pros

Plastic

The lowest price

Silicone

Easy to get ice cubes removed

Stainless steel

The most durable

Not absorbing scents and flavors

#2 Wash the tray

After making a selection of your tray, you may move to give it a complete cleaning.

  • For a newly bought tray, soak it into hot water for about 30 minutes and then let the air dry.
  • For an old one, it would be better to prepare the cleaning mixture by 2 teaspoons of baking soda with nearly 1/2 cup of warm water.

3# Pour water into ice cube tray

Water in different states and temperature makes a huge difference to your fine cubes, hence choosing any type you want can be of great importance. Here are four categories for your reference.

  • As a simple one, tap water gives the least tasting experience, for some other materials exist inside and it is likely to be cloudy at its surface.
  • Filtered or bottled water seems to be a better result, as its purity compared with tap water. But if you are in pursuit of the decent taste, more complex steps are requested.
  • Pouring hot water into your ice cube tray makes the best ending. I know it appears to be a contradictory argument, but when you have experimented with the three methods above, you will make a clear conclusion.

Furthermore, make sure that every cube tray is filled evenly to make a consistent and standard cube shape. And if you would like some other flavors, fill the tray with drinks you have prepared instead.

#4 Freeze the ice cubes

I don’t remember whether steps shown above did I followed strictly, though, putting the tray into the freezer is the key and simplest point I would never abandon.

You will have more than 6 hours to find some fun when the cubes are lying at the freezer with coziness and ease, waiting for the change from flowing liquid to strong solid.

#5 Get the ice cube removed from the tray

If you have chosen the plastic or silicone tray for frozen, you need to remove ice cubes into airtight freezer bag for storage to keep the scent and taste. Note that the storage should be no more than a week. The sooner you take, the better the tasting experience you will possess.
