How to use essential oil
Essential oils are natural concentrated plant extracts. It takes a good deal of plants to make only a small bottle of essential oil. Maybe you have received lots of essential oil as gifts but don’t know how to make the most of them? Don’t worry, today we’ll go to check out three easy ways to use essential oil.
- 1. Inhalation
The first method is opening your essential oil and directly inhaling it. The flavor of essential oils will interact with your central nervous system and trigger good emotions accordingly. Now many diffusers have support for essential oils, so you can add a few drops and let the tiny oil particles disperse around your room.
Other methods include “steam inhalation”, which asks you to add drops of essential oil in a bowl of hot water, and then breathe the steam with a towel over your head and the bowl. Or simply put the essential oil in cotton balls and place them near vents.
- 2. Apply on skin
The essential oil can be used when massaging your skin as well, especially the pain points. But do avoid some sensitive areas like your eyes and wounds. Some calming essential oils work very well when applied to your head, neck or temples. However, according to experts, it’s best to dilute the essential oil before use or else it could cause irritation.
- 3. Ingesting
Some essential oils are good to be taken via “internal use”. You can either add it to the water or put one or two drops beneath your tongue. Some professionals suggest that you don’t know for sure a certain bottle of essential oil will burn the mucosal lining in your mouth or not, so it’s better to avoid this method.
