Method 1: Steaming Broccoli on the Stove
Step 1: Fill a port with about an inch of water and turn on the stove on to heat it until the water begins to simmer.
Step 2: Place a stainless steel steamer basket inside the pot, noticing that the bottom of the steamer basket should not be touching the water.
Step 3: Place the broccoli evenly aross the steamer basket. And surely you can lightly season them with some salt, pepper, or butter.
Step 4: Cover the pot with a lid and steam for another 4 to 5 minutes.
Method 2: Steaming Broccoli in the Microwave
Step 1: Place the broccoli into a microware-friendly bowl and pour some water into it, three tablespoons of water per pound of broccoli.
Step 2: Cover the bowl with a lid without any metal on it or with a plate.
Step 3: Microwave the broccoli on high for 3 to 4 minutes. If the broccoli is soft and tender, it’s ready to eat; if not, you’ll need some more time to heat it.
Method 3: Seasoning and Flavoring Broccoli before Steaming
Step 1: Flavor the water with some lemon juice or soy sauce, which will lightly flavor the broccoli when steaming it.
Step 2: Season the broccoli in a small cup with some olive oil, salt and pepper before you steam it.
Step 3: Add some lemon zest or a few lemon slices after steaming.
